“Sierra Club endorses Mike O’Brien for City Council, Seat #8 because of his environmental leadership in Seattle and his cohesive vision for our city. While chair, O’Brien brought strength and influence to the Sierra Club’s Cascade Chapter. When Seattle faced the false choice of transit and suburban highways or no increased transit at all, Mike O’Brien was principled and confident enough to oppose Proposition One and led the fight for a better transit package. O’Brien’s ability to build organizations and his environmental knowledge has helped make our city an example for the rest of the nation.

Seattle now faces economic hardship, unwise investment into wasteful road projects and increasingly unaffordable housing.
