Thank you—with your support, we earned a decisive victory in Tuesday’s primary and set the stage for a strong campaign in the general election. Every one of you played a critical role. Whether you volunteered to make phone calls or to go door-to-door, donated to help our efforts to reach out to voters, or encouraged us to push for a better future for our city, your support made this victory possible.
As I said Tuesday night when we saw the first election results, this campaign has never been about me; it’s about the future of Seattle, our priorities, and our political process. At a time when this city faces tough questions about housing, transportation, schools, jobs, and the environment, do we really want a small group of political insiders and downtown business interests sitting down behind closed doors to make the key decisions that will affect the future of this city for generations to come?
I say no. I say we need leaders who have the courage to move beyond old approaches and short-term expediency and make decisions based on a commitment to creating a Seattle that is environmentally sound, socially just, and economically sustainable.
I am dedicated to representing this vision as a member of the Seattle City Council, but to get there I need your help once again.
- Spread the Word: We made it this far because people like you brought my message to family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors. This kind of personal endorsement is more valuable than any ad or direct mail piece. Please keep these conversations going.
- Donate: In the coming weeks this race will be flooded with money as powerful people rally behind my opponent. There’s no doubt that we’ll be heavily outspent and there’s a good chance we’ll see the kind of smear tactics that poison the democratic process as people who support projects like the deep bore tunnel scramble to protect their personal interest. Your generosity can ensure that our voice isn’t drowned out; we can tell people the truth about this race. click here to donate.
- Volunteer: Soon we’ll be hitting the ground again to reach as many voters as possible. As any of our phone bank volunteers can tell you, the power of a conversation with a committed supporter is one of the most powerful forces in politics. You can make the difference. Stay tuned for more details.
We’re still glowing from the great result in the primary, but there’s no time to rest. With less than 11 weeks until the general election, we need to make the most of every day. With your help, we know we can win.
Thank you for your continued support!
